With Montgomery County Public Schools planning for virtual learning until at least January 29, 2021, we wanted to provide support and assistance to Master Method parents and families who may be anticipating challenges with balancing returning to work, multiple children in school, as well as offering a variety of physical, creative and social activities throughout the day.

ABOUT MASTER METHOD ACADEMY'S E-LEARNING SUPPORT PROGRAM:

• SPOTS: 12 students maximum (first come, first served)

• DATES: Fall Program Sept. 8 - Nov. 20 (Winter and Spring dates TBA)

• DAYS: Monday - Friday (Holidays TBA)

• TIMES: 8:30am - 3:30pm

• LOCATION: Master Method Academy HQ (5538 Randolph Rd / Rockville 20852)

• TUITION: Limited time discount:  $179 per week (regular $299) / $179 deposit upon registration to reserve spot / Once deposit & registration is completed, weekly automatic payments will be set up for duration of the program. / Paid in Full Discount available

• REGISTRATION:  Fall Program registration requires attendance for complete period (FALL PROGRAM: 9/8 - 11/20/20), and includes any absences.

• OUR TEAM:  In addition to our amazing staff of martial arts instructors, our Master Method Academy team includes staff who hold degrees/credentials/past positions including:  bachelors and masters in education, educational psychologist and retired head of school, YMCA camp program director, and careers in education ranging from 15 to 35 years.  Since opening our doors in 2011, our programs have drawn upon the collective educational expertise of this excellent team to develop the highest quality programming through our positive education philosophy.

PROGRAM MISSION

• To provide a structured safe, positive, and encouraging environment with supervision, guidance and assistance for school-aged students during their virtual school day.

• To support parents and families by helping ease challenges including balancing work, multiple children attending virtual learning, healthy physical activity, entertainment, and social interaction.

 

ACTIVITIES (Detailed daily schedule to be announced)

o Login assistance for student's virtual classes

o Facilitating classwork and homework throughout class time hours

o Lunch break/snack breaks (students bring their own peanut-free lunch and snacks)

o Leadership & Martial Arts Lessons with focus on character development, wellness, physical & mental health, and goal achievement

o Supervised free-time activities: reading, creativity (drawing, crafts, listening to music), games, etc.

COVID Procedures:

• Students (12 maximum) will be admitted only if they have NOT exhibited any cold, flu or fever symptoms in the last 2 weeks

• Daily temporal temperature check upon entering

• Masks required at all times (students, staff, and visitors)

• Check-in will take place at the front door – only students, staff and approved visitors (limited to one family at a time) will be allowed admission during program hours

• At least 6-foot social distancing will be required at all times by all students

• Hand washing/sanitizing required upon entry, as well as regularly throughout the day

• Students will be assigned to study and activity stations with supplies that will be used ONLY by that individual at all times throughout the program: desk, chair, supply bin, floor mat, study station, activity station

• Parents will receive a supply list to send with students in backpacks that must be able to be unpacked and packed by students themselves

• Any area used by more than one student (e.g. restroom) will be thoroughly sanitized by staff in between uses.

• No-touch policy will remain in place throughout the day. Parents: please pre-frame students about this so they understand our usual high-fives and pats on the back will be replaced with “air fives”, “air fist pumps” and LOTS of smiles and clapping!
